Free ECE Webinar: Helping Children, Families, & Communities Cope with Grief

Jun 11, 2024    |   Upcoming Webinars

Grief is a part of life that affects people of all ages. Because young children are just beginning to develop the vocabulary and cognitive skills to understand and talk about painful feelings, they may have a hard time understanding, managing, and expressing their emotions when exposed to death. Families and early childhood care providers can model self-care and help children build coping skills and resilience during difficult times.

Join this webinar, hosted by the Office of Head Start (OHS) National Center, to learn strategies to help children, families, and community members cope with grief. Participants will also learn about grief resources available from Sesame Workshop.

This webinar is offered in English with simultaneous interpretation in Spanish.

In this webinar, participants will learn about…

  • The different ways young children express grief
  • Approaches that families and communities can take to help young children communicate and cope with their grief
  • Related resources to care for oneself and the community

 This webinar will benefit…

  • Head Start program staff members, families, directors, managers, and administrators
  • Home visitors
  • Child care center directors and other early childhood program staff
  • Infant and early childhood mental health consultants
  • Child care health consultants
  • Head Start federal staff
  • Head Start TTA staff
  • Head Start Collaboration Office directors
  • Child care federal and state staff

Register for this event via Zoom. Attendees will receive a certificate of participation after the webinar.
