Rhythms of Resilience: Free, Virtual Course for Caregivers from Sesame Workshop

A young boy plays outdoors with a parachute.

Early learning professionals play a key role in supporting children’s social and emotional growth, especially when families go through difficult experiences. To help child care providers learn how to provide support and foster resilience, Sesame Workshop has created a free professional development course.

This interactive course is designed to help child care providers introduce resilience-building practices to young children and families, especially those who have been affected by crisis.

This course will help participants gain a deeper understanding of what resilience is, and how it can be nurtured (in both children and adults) through consistent positive behaviors, activities, and interactions that support both emotional and cognitive well-being and development.

Course Goals

In this course, providers will…

  • learn about children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development at different ages and stages;
  • explore (a tiny bit!) how the brain works to learn, relearn, and strengthen skills;
  • discover how they can introduce and scaffold the development of resilience-boosting skills in families affected by crisis.

This course is entirely free, but does require a Sesame Workshop account. To find more information about this course, and to get started, visit the Sesame Workshop website.
