The California Department of Social Services Child Care & Development Division invites all who are interested to attend the next meeting of its Rate Reform and Quality Workgroup. The meeting is open to the public, and there will be time allocated for public comment.
The workgroup was formed to assess the methodology for establishing reimbursement rates and the existing quality standards for child care and preschool programs. The workgroup’s assessment will be informed by evidence-based elements that best support child development and positive child outcomes, and will account for the diversity of California’s child care and development and early learning system.
The intention of this workgroup is to provide recommendations to the Joint Labor Management Committee, the Department of Finance, and the Joint Legislative Budget Committee on the following:
-
how the State Department of Social Services should define child care workforce competencies, and
-
how these competencies would align with rate reform.
