Registered voters in South San Francisco have the opportunity to vote on a local measure that would establish free early childcare and education for children between the ages of 2.5 and 5 years whose parent, legal guardian, foster parent, or legal caregiver resides or is employed within the boundaries of the South San Francisco Unified School District. The measure would also expand the infrastructure needed to provide free childcare and education, and would increase the compensation paid to early childhood providers and staff.
Funding for Preschool for All would come from a new annual tax of $2.50 per square foot for commercial properties that are at least 25,000 square feet and that host “professional, scientific, or technical” business operations or services.
The campaign supporting Measure DD/Preschool for All South San Francisco has a website with more information.
