Child Care Aware of America estimated in 2024 that 52% of all child care settings in the country were home-based. These programs serve almost half of the children aged five and under in the US who need care. They are particularly important for infant and toddler care, for low-income families, and for families with young children who live in rural areas. Despite the positive trendline in 2024, there has been a decline in home-based providers over the last 5 years.
This webinar, hosted by the Hunt Institute, will focus on Family Child Care (FCC) or home-based child care, which supports many families by providing flexible arrangements, affordability, and sometimes even alignment with linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
The webinar will discuss issues related to expanding and supporting home-based child care, to alleviate access issues families face to help solve the child care crisis. This event will also cover some of the issues that home-based family child care providers face, and describe innovative solutions to help stabilize, expand, and support the sector.
