ECE Confirmed to be COVID Vaccination Priority

Jan 15, 2021    |   COVID-19 Resources & Information

The ECE/child care workforce has been prioritized for early voluntary receipt of the COVID vaccine, thanks to persistent advocacy from early learning advocates and supportive members of the state legislature like state senator Josh Becker and assembly member Marc Berman.

Because of limited supplies, COVID-19 vaccines are currently available only for healthcare workers and residents in long-term care settings, also known as category 1a.

Next on the priority list (category 1b) for vaccination later this winter are:

  • Individuals 75 and older

  • Those at risk of exposure at work in the following sectors:

    • Education

    • Childcare

    • Emergency services

    • Food and agriculture
