Free Learning Opportunity for Family Child Care & FFN Providers in CA

The California Department of Social Services’ Child Care and Development Division (CDSS, CCDD) and WestEd’s Program for Infant Toddler/Care (PITC) are offering a free, virtual training series for FCC and FFN providers in March 2024, entitled PITC Academy

The Academy is a six-session virtual training event for current FCC or FFN providers residing in California serving infants and toddlers. The Academy will provide PITC training in English, with simultaneous interpretation in Spanish and Chinese, and will highlight the unique assets and challenges of FCC and FFN providers. 

Applications are currently open and will close when the Academy has reached capacity. 

CDSS/CCDD is funding fellowship opportunities to provide enrollment at no cost to FCC and FFN providers.  There are 350 fellowship spaces available to California residents based on the review of applications. This event is limited to California residents.

PITC Academy Session Details

This is a six session training event that will be held throughout the month of March 2024. Details about each session are included below.

  • Tuesday, March 5 from 6:30–8:30 PM (PT): Six Essential PITC Policies with a Focus on Making It Happen: Small Groups and Individualized Care
  • Thursday, March 7 from 6:30–8:30 PM (PT): Caring from Our Points of View: Harmonizing Diverse Perspectives and Culturally Responsive Relationships
  • Tuesday, March 12 from 6:30–8:30 PM (PT): Understanding Children’s Behavior: Supporting the Individual Needs of Infants and Toddlers
  • Thursday, March 14 from 6:30–8:30 PM (PT): Discoveries of Infancy: Cognitive Development and Perceptual and Motor Development
  • Tuesday, March 19 from 6:30–8:30 PM (PT): Inclusive Care
  • Tuesday, March 26 from 6:30–9:30 PM (PT): Language, Communication, and Culture
