Last week, the team of Good2Know Network had the opportunity to take part in an event hosted by Community Equity Collaborative, a screening of the documentary, No Small Matter. This film offers a compelling look at the importance of early learning through research and personal stories that dive into the importance of the first five years. The message is clear: increasing funding in early learning is necessary to provide higher wages for educators, more affordable care for parents, and high-quality learning experiences for all young children.
Those in attendance included several local early learning educators, parents of young children, family home child care providers, pediatricians, elected officials, parents, and other members of the community. The screening was followed by a panel discussion with Menlo Park Mayor, Cecilia Taylor, San Mateo County Supervisor, Dave Pine, MPCSD parent, May-Ling Kuo Gonzales, All Five teacher, Kerry Folan, and Primary School teacher, Tajmah Martin.
The event and the documentary were powerful, deeply moving, and thought-provoking. We are proud to be part of this event that contributes to the conversation about early learning, and look forward to continuing to push for funding with members of the local community.
