Developmental Milestones: Free Resources for Parents & Educators from CDC

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) offers a variety of free resources for parents, caregivers, and educators to help track a child’s development. 

On the CDC website’s Learn the Signs page, you will find information on important developmental milestones, printable handouts, family resources, professional development trainings, and early intervention support. 

A few especially helpful resources for educators are listed at the links below:

  • Watch Me! Celebrating Milestones and Sharing Concerns: This is a free professional development resource for educators and child care providers. The course provides tools and best practices for monitoring the development of children in your care and talking about it with their parents. 

  • Talking with Parents about Developmental Concerns: This tip sheet provides information about how to regularly talk with parents about their child’s development,  and provides tips for talking to parents when you have concerns. This resource is also available in Spanish

  • Developmental Milestones Free Printable: This free resource includes a roadmap of important developmental milestones from six months to four years old, and highlights the importance of tracking young children’s development.
