Preschool & Pre-K Favorite Songs

Dec 21, 2018    |   Art & MusicPreschool & Pre-K Learning

Last week, in Community News & Views, we shared some of our favorite songs to sing with infants and toddlers. Planning music curriculum is an important part of our work as educators and caregivers, as music can have such an impact on the flow of the day.

According to Judi Bosco, a board-certified music therapist, “Music brings people together…Group music-making releases energy which can be channeled in creative, productive directions. Children learn about themselves and others by playing music together and by listening to each other — tapping into hidden courage that can be played out by singing together or discovering the inner resources to listen quietly to another child’s playing.”

Below, we have listed some of our favorite songs to sing with 3-5 year-olds:

We’re Going on a Bear Hunt

This song allows an opportunity for a lot of different movements as you swish through the tall grass and splash through the water along with words of the song.

Los Colores

Interested in learning the names of colors in Spanish? This song will help you introduce some foreign language into your curriculum.

We are the Dinosaurs

A particularly great song for music and movement— this song will inspire marching and stomping like a dinosaur around the room!
