Talk, Sing, and Point: Language-boosting Tips from The Basics in Boston

Oct 14, 2025    |   Language & Literacy
A baby lies on his back and laughs with his caregiver.

Infants learn language from the very beginning. They pay attention to sounds and expressions as their caregivers interact with them.

To help parents and caregivers support healthy brain development in young children, the early learning organization, The Basics, Boston,  offers a series of videos that highlight strategies to promote learning and growth.

Talk, Sing, and Point  is a video in the series that highlights early language development and reminds care providers of the importance of eye contact, back-and-forth conversations, singing, and more! Every time we talk, sing, or point to items and talk about them with young children, we are building meaningful relationships and helping little ones learn about the world.

The Basics Boston is an early learning nonprofit that engages and supports parents and other caregivers of young children in their roles as the most important influences in their children’s lives. The organization is founded by Dr. Ron Ferguson, who was the faculty director of the Achievement Gap Initiative (AGI) at Harvard University. Learn more about The Basics here
