Increased Investment in ECE would Have Immediate Economic Benefits

May 16, 2019    |   Research Updates for ECE Educators

Last week the Labor Center at UC Berkeley released a report calling for additional public investment in ECE, to “finance the true cost of high-quality care.” The report, Investing in Early Care and Education: The Economic Benefits for California, underscores ECE providers’ enormous value– for California’s children, families, businesses, and economy.

The report’s authors note that current funding levels are insufficient to retain enough quality providers and teachers to provide care for all families who need it– a situation that is all too familiar to those of us living and working in San Mateo County.

A video summary of the report is included below and the full report can be viewed online.
