How and Why To Take Meditative Walks

Jan 10, 2019    |   Educator Self-Care

Lunch breaks can be a great time to go for a walk and get fresh air. Whether you are walking on your own or with company, your walk can rejuvenate you physically and mentally. Incorporating meditation during all or even just the first few minutes of your walk enables you to do a personal check-in before taking on the rest of the day.

Just Sit by Sukey and Elizabeth Novogratz includes recommendations for a productive walking meditation:

“Set your phone for a timer for as many minutes as you want…In this meditation, let your anchor be your feet. Feel the sensation of your feet hitting the ground. When your mind drifts, get back to the feeling of your feet touching the ground. When you come to the end of your path, turn around and do it again.”
