National Read a Book Day is on September 6th. It’s a day to celebrate by spending some time reading with the children in your care.

This will help the children build important language and literacy skills, as well as mathematics, problem-solving, communication, and more!  

You might also enjoy using some of the following resources and suggestions for new books to bring into your program: 

  • Reading Challenge from Child Care Aware of America: printable tip sheets with tips for promoting early literacy skills and healthy brain development for young children. The sheets also include a variety of activity ideas you can include with storytime, such as encouraging children to identify shapes and colors as you read together.
